Objectives:To provide an overview of results and lessons learned from a pilot project in New York City and the State of Wisconsin sponsored by CSTE and NACCHO, in collaboration with CDC, to implement public health reporting specifications for sending and receiving communicable disease case reports from an EHR system. This pilot is intended to enhance public health and clinical practice by articulating the impact, burden, and user and system requirements of implementing Clinical Data Architecture (CDA) for public health reporting and testing current standards and protocols for EHR interoperability.
