Assessing and Responding to the Health and Safety Needs of Workers in the Temporary Services Industry – 2/27/2015

Watch Video

Speakers: Linda Forst, MD, MPH

Objectives:Workers employed in the temporary services industry have a higher rate of injury and earn lower wages than their “permanently” employed counterparts. While all workers have a right to a safe and healthy workplace, there is a lack of clarity on who provides basic protections to these workers such as who is responsible for recording injuries and for covering workers’ compensation. The purpose of this webinar is to provide an overview of occupational health and safety issues for workers in the temporary services industry and to outline a basic public health response.

After the webinar, participants will be able to:
  • Describe health and safety risk factors among workers employed by temporary agencies.
  • Discuss a basic surveillance approach to track these workers.
  • Discuss potential interventions to protect these workers.
