Objectives:

The CSTE Scientific Writing Workgroup as part of the Epidemiology Methods subcommittee led the efforts to better understand the scientific writing capacity of applied epidemiologists. The report offers insight into scientific writing capacity at both state and local health departments and offers recommendations to promote professional development focused on scientific writing skills.

After the webinar, participants will be able to:
  • Describe at least two aspects of the writing and publishing experience of epidemiologists for the general public, peer-reviewed publications, and CDC-specific publications (e.g., MMWR, PCD, and EID).
  • Identify at least one expectation of scientific writing by epidemiologists.
  • Identify at least one barrier and facilitator that epidemiologists experience relevant to scientific writing.
